Niyog Krishna, the 26-year-old adventurer from Kerala, got some unexpected supporters in his quest for online votes in a bid to take part in an Arctic expedition. Young heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan took to social media to campaign for Krishna, who is the current favorite to win a ticket to the polar adventure through 300 kilometers of Arctic wilderness. Niyog also got support from Prithviraj and Indrajit Sukumaran.

The voting closed on Friday and Niyog ended as ranked 1 in the world with with 51,078 votes, seems like the star endorsement worked well for Niyog as he had faced tough fight from Pakistan's Mushahid Shah and Central Europe's Kitty Zaja. Click to see his profile and ranking list.

Dulquer, who is known for his passion for travel, bikes and car, wrote on Facebook: “Travel has always been a passion close to my heart and that’s why Niyog’s expedition is making me so excited.”

“The adventure traveler from our very own Kerala is this close to making history. He is representing India at the Fjallraven Polar, a 300 km long extreme winter adventure across the Arctic region. It’s the first time that an Indian has been shortlisted for this once-in-a-lifetime journey and this gives him the unique chance to post an Indian Flag on the North Pole.”

“Niyog now ranks #1 in the world among the top three contenders from different countries. But let’s make sure no one else overtakes him.”

Krishna also took to Facebook to thank the actors.
