We are not talking about 'Motorcycle Diaries' or 'Slumdog Millionaire' here. But we firmly believe that there are certain movies that leave us inspired to pack our bags and head out to explore the world. Our list

1) Maheshinte Prathikaram

Idukki, the mist-laden hills, the dash of freshness - 'Maheshinte Prathikaram took one through rural landscapes of this beautiful land.

2) Anarkali

We were looking up Kavaratti ever since the trailer showed a ship sail across the blue oceans. The movie shot extensively across Kavaratti, Bangaram and Agatti islands in Lakshadweep, had Prithviraj and Biju Menon in the lead roles.

3) Rani Padmini

The movie is all about how two women come together and how their roads come together. Their journey from Kochi to Himachal Pradesh forms the story. The visuals are just breath-taking even though the movie slumped at the box office.

4) Lord Livingstone 700 Kandi

Kandi says Anil Radhakrishna Menon is a measure of land. This movie is his protest against deforestation, against the abuse of its resources, the forests, and its ecosystems. 7000 Kandi is the name of the fictional village where the film is set. And it really made us want to pack up and escape.

5) Life of Josutty

From Kattapana in Idukki to New Zealand, the 'Life of Josutty' took us to a landscape which was hitherto unseen in Malayalam movies.

6) Madhura Naranga

Dubai is the second home for a Malayali. So, it was not surprising when this movie was shot in this haven. But the surprise element was Sri Lanka.

7) Charlie

'Charlie' brought 'Meesapulimala' back into focus. And the movie was shot extensively across Kochi, Munnar, and Gujarat.

8) Ennu Ninte Moideen

The sleepy town of Mukkam and the Iruvanjippuzha came to represent love and longing in the minds of many romantic after the movie hit the screens. Though the movie was not shot at Mukkam, it became famous overnight.

9) Premam

Premam was a rage, and the song 'Malare Ninne' was a chartbuster. And thousands of travelers to Kodaikanal started seeking out the Dolphin's Nose, the place where the opening scenes were canned.

10) Gavi

Perhaps, the movie Ordinary was the one that set the tone, with its beautiful depiction of Gavi. However, one certain shots were filmed at Gavi, the rest of it were the beautiful landscape across Munnar ranges.
