Celebrating #3YearsOfChennaiExpress : When Bollywood traveled to Kerala too

The SRK – Deepika Padukone starrer 'Chennai Express' is perhaps one of those Bollywood movies which panned its camera to some lovely locations outside Mumbai. Devikulam Lake, the tea estates in Munnar and Meesapulimala in Kerala, found a place in this popular flick. Dudhsagar Waterfalls, Pollachi, and Satara blended perfectly into the framework of the movie. As we celebrate #3YearsOfChennaiExpress, we go back in time. 

Munnar

The song Kashmir Main Tu Kanyakumari was shot extensively at the tea plantations around Munnar.

Devikulam Lake

Meenamma's father's jeep runs down the slope and into a lake. This scene was shot on the banks of the Devikulam Lake near Munnar. 

Meesapulimala

Parts of the romantic number 'Titli' was shot at Meesapulimala. The misty Meesapulimala has been featured in other Malayalam movies too. And is one of the most popular destinations of the day. Click here to read more

Vattamalai Murugan Temple, Coimbatore


Meenamma realizes that she has fallen for Rahul at this temple in Coimbatore. This temple forms part of the song 'Titli' which was also shot in Meesapulimala and Munnar. 

Dudhsagar Waterfalls
 

Dudhsagar a four-tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River was another scenic place the movie was shot at. The nearest rail station accessible by road is Castle Rock. From there, you have to trek. It is 60kms away from Panaji by road.
