It was a little after 1pm when we walked into the Grandeur restaurant at the SP Grand Days hotel near Panavila Junction in Thiruvananthapuram. Our aim was a nice relaxed buffet lunch for which the restaurant is famous for.

Inside, a whiff of grilled fish and meat assailed my nostrils, churning my stomach with craving. After the welcome drink, we went in for the soups. The salad counter at the first glance looked like every weight watcher's heaven, but then there were non-veg salads, which were creamy and rich. Curd rice and vadas were the other attraction at the starters table. Add to this, the usual finger chips.

You can pick from rotis or appam to start off. There were two separate counters for veg and non -veg delicacies. There was beef, chicken, fish, mutton and crabs. For the veggies, there were paneer, potatoes and vegetable jalfrezi in addition to the usual avial, sambhar, thoran and kappa.

The cuisine here is a blend of Kuttanad and Malabar styles with an influence of Chinese, Thai and Arabic. The desserts are way too tempting, so make sure you leave some place for it in you tummy.

A meal for two, considering the elaborate spread is very economical. However, they have different rates for weekends and week days. So, go ahead, try out the buffet lunch at Grandeur
