While Thekkady and Munnar grab the limelight in terms of tourist footfalls in Idukki, Thodupuzha has much to offer to a traveler who prefers to tread the not so famous spots in the district. And if you love to blend in a bit of adventure with pleasure, Thodupuzha and neighboring places will offer you a lot of options to keep you on your toes for most of the weekend. Here's a list of places you can explore while at Thodupuzha.
Pit stop #1 - Thommankuthu
There is nothing more pleasant than exploring wilderness during the monsoons. And Thommankuthu, a seven-step cascading waterfall, gives you ample opportunity to be footloose, just be aware of your every step.
Thommankuthu has deep pools and gushing rapids, and it is located inside the Kaliyar forest range. This less explored tourist spot, in the middle of a pristine forest, with mesmerizing waterfalls, meandering mystical rivers, and the mysterious spectral caves, will enthrall the visitors. Entry to the trek and waterfalls starts from 8am. The trek is slightly difficult and will take some time, so it is ideal to pack your lunch and water before you go.
