Alappuzha: Have you ever wanted to sell almost everything you own and travel the world in a refurbished van? London-born Kevin Fuell and his German wife Heike did just that.
The mobile home, brought all the way from South Africa via Mumbai is currently stationed in Alappuzha. It doesn't look big but has a bedroom and kitchen.
Kevin and Heike are on a five-year-long world tour in their moblie home. They have covered 40 countries in three years. In every country, they made the van their home. Kevin, an engineer, redesigned the vehicle for their own use.
The kitchen inside has a gas stove and cylinder for cooking. Purifier is ready for filtering drinking water. The bedroom is also up there. A tent can be opened in two minutes after the van is stopped. It would envelope the van, making it secure. A solar system is installed inside the vehicle. The first year of their trip covered Europe, the second year Africa and the third India and Nepal. The vehicle will go to China from India. The couple chooses a place where they are offered a secure place to park. Heike, who used to work in the tourist sector, prepares the travel plan.
They watched Pooram in Thrissur.
The couple have sold off their house in London. “We want to see the maximum number of countries and people. We’ll then settle down at a place we love,” they said. “It could perhaps be Kerala. Because the place is that beautiful,” said the couple, who has already visited around 40 countries.
