Vizhinjam is in for some bustle this season. Two luxury liners will soon be weighing anchor at the picturesque port.
But super ship Island Sky, a regular at the port will not be touching base in Vizhinjam this time. Instead, the mammoth Amadea and the medium-sized Silver Discoverer will be sailing in with a load of passengers.
Early February, Silver Discoverer will weigh anchor off Vizhinjam and passengers will be able to visit the city before it will sail out to Colombo in the evening.
Amadea will sail into the port on March 29. The ship will weigh anchor just outside the port as Vizhinjam is not yet ready to pull in a ship of its size close enough to the harbor. The cruise liner, with over 600 passengers will be sailing in from Colombo and will leave Vizhinjam for Kochi that night itself. While Amadea came calling at Vizhinjam in 2015, Silver Discoverer was a visitor last year too.
However, Island Sky which was quite a regular will be skipping Vizhinjam and Kochi this time.
