It is Helsinki, Finland's capital, which hosts the most stunning Christmas festivities. An exuberance of green and red colours dominates the entire place during this time. All the streets would be illuminated while Christmas trees and snowmen line the sides.

Another highlight of Lapland is Aurora borealis or northern lights – an awe-inspiring natural phenomenon in the sky. Green, blue, and pink colours appear in the skies, at least on 200 nights a year. The northern lights can be spotted by snow yooshing, cross-country skiing, snow mobile, and sled dog touring.

Finland also has hundreds of lakes, including the biggest one Inari which extends to an area of around 1,000 sq km, but all of them remain frozen during winter.
