Like all film and TV personalities, Nisha Sarang loves travelling. She has become a favourite of television audiences with meaningful roles in several serials.

With a busy shooting schedule, Nisha finds it difficult to pursue any other interest. Even then, the actress ensures that she embarks on journeys whenever she has free time. However, Nisha prefers to travel to temples rather than setting out on pleasure trips.

"Who doesn't like to travel? But what gives me most satisfaction is a visit to a temple. One feels calmness and peace while praying at a shrine," she says.

"Visiting temples also gives me an opportunity to express gratitude to god, who has given everything I have," adds Nisha.

The actress has prayed at almost all major temples in Kerala, but likes the shrines in and around Kannur the most. "Parassinikadavu, Kottiyoor Mahadeva, and Madayikavu Bhagavathy temples are all dear to me. Among them, Madayikavu gives me a special feeling. It is the second Bhadrakali Temple in Kerala. Also known as Thiruvarkkad Bhagavathy. It is located at Eripuram, on the road from Kannur to Pazhayangadi via Payyannur," she says.

The route to Madayippara temple is along hills and steep inclines. Madayikavu is one among the rare temples where 'saktheya' form of worship is observed. Non-vegetarian items like fish and meat are used as offerings there.

Favourite deity

The shrine Nisha has visited the most is Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple. "Unikkannan is my favourite deity. I have travelled to Guruvayur on countless occasions. Nothing gives me pleasure like a 'darshan' of Lord Krishna, who is adored as Unnikkannan," she says.

"The deity at Guruvayur is in the form of Krishna, the perfect incarnation of Lord Vishnu. A very rare type of stone has been used to make the idol. Though everyone refers to the deity as Guruvayurappan, it is in reality Unnikkannan, Krishna as a child, who is worshipped at the temple," adds Nisha.

She also makes it a point to spend hours on the premises of the Guruvayur Temple whenever she travels there. "I love sitting there for a long time," reveals the actress.

An unforgettable birthday

Nisha has gone on several long journeys apart from temple visits. Among them, a trip that she fondly recalls was one to America to attend a NAFA (North American Film Awards) function. "I was selected for the 'Best comedian award' at the event and was on cloud nine," she says.

Though Nisha has travelled to several countries as part of entertainment shows, she never found time to enjoy the sights of the tourist spots there. "However, this trip to the USA was different and I enjoyed it thoroughly," she explains.

The reason for Nisha's happiness was a surprise birthday party thrown by her friends and fans of 'Uppum Mulakum' TV serial in America. "I had never celebrated my birthday in such a grand manner before. My joy knew no bounds," she recalls.

"I thanked god a lot for making such an event happen. I will always remember that divine grace is the secret of my success," adds Nisha.
