Actress Niranajna Anoop started appearing in Malayalam movies only a few years ago but all her roles have received appreciation. Along with her acting career, Niranjana loves travelling. She reveals some of her memorable trips to Onmanorama.
Journeys with family
Almost all the travelling Nirajana has done was with her close relatives. "Trips with friends have almost never taken place. Cousins and other relatives are my co-travellers and I have enjoyed such journeys," says the actress.
Reading inspires her
Though keen to travel, Niranjana has hardly visited any place on her bucket list. But it is reading that helped her prepare the list. Niranjana feels a certain closeness to places she reads about and wishes to make a visit at least once. She loves travelling to places where good food is served and enjoying the exotic dishes there.
Trips to mythical spots
During early 2018, Nirajana performed a dance recital titled 'Gita Govindam.' It was based on the theme of 'Rasaleela.' While researching for the performance, she saw several photos related to the place where Krishna performed Rasaleela with 'gopikas.' Once the place was a beautiful garden but now only some big trees remain. Niranjana thought how wonderful would it be if she could visit the place and get the real feel of such a mythical spot.
She says trips to historical places and locations related to mythological would be thrilling experiences. A great devotee of Krishna, Niranjana says that she would someday undertake journeys to the places where the divine being is believed to have lived.
A scary holiday
Once when Niranjana was very young, she went with her family to Kodaikanal. Early in the morning, along with her cousins Niranjana went on a walk around the lake there. It was very cold outside and everything seemed perfect when a sight in the waters struck the children. Floating in the lake was a pretty doll with long hair and covered with snow above the water. The doll was gently moving towards the shore and Niranjna and her cousins waited for the doll to reach them.
All of a sudden, a crowd gathered on the lake shore along with policemen. A speed boat also reached the spot and the doll was lifted out of the water. It was then that Niranjana and her cousins received the shock of their lives – the floating doll turned out to be a real baby.
"I never really recovered from that scary experience. Whenever I visit a lake after that, I remember that incident," says the actress.
Few foreign trips
Niranjana is yet go on many foreign trips. "The only countries I have visited are Malaysia and Singapore. Everybody knows that both the places are extremely beautiful," she says.
"My trips to Malaysia and Singapore were also wonderful," adds the talented artiste.
Favourite places in Kerala, travel plans
Wherever one goes, he or she can never forget their native place. "For me, Kozhikode, my birthplace, is special," says Niranjana.
But Kochi, where she completed her studies and grew up is also her favourite. Moreover, it is in Kochi that she lives now.
Niranjana also reveals that most of her trips were carried out on the spur of the moment. "I have never made elaborate preparations for my journeys. Moreover, no travel plans are charted out during holidays," she explains.
Wishes for the future
In future, Niranjana hopes to travel to places related to mythology and history that she had read about as a little girl. They include many temples and sacred groves in Kerala. Also, the actress is eagerly looking forward to travelling to such mythical spots in north India too.
No trips during work
The actress visits several places as part of film shooting. There, she enquires about the local attractions and takes a note. However, she does not like mixing leisure with work. "I don't visit the attractions at the shooting location while working. But sometime after the shooting, I may go there to enjoy the specialities of the destination, which gives me a lot of happiness," says Niranjana.
A fan of Mumbai
Though Nirajana is yet to travel much abroad, she has made trips to many important cities in India. Among them, Mumbai has captivated her the most. "It is a city that welcomes everyone. The sights and sounds of the metropolis where many people make their dreams come true touched me deeply as well as proved to be an inspiration," winds up the actress, who hopes that all her travel wishes would be realized one day.
