Actors Prithviraj and Biju Menon gave stellar performances in Malayalm action thriller 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum.' But actress Gowri Nandha caught the attention of movie-goers with her character Kannamma, the bold tribal wife of Ayyappan Nair, one of the protagonists in the film.

Along with acting, Gowri loves travelling too. The actress is not into adventure travel, but likes to go on journeys laced with devotion to god.

Gowri's travel experiences

"I have no qualms in saying that I am a religious person and most of my travels are to visit temples with my mother. When I am in need of peace of mind, I love to stand before a holy place with my eyes closed," she says.

Gowri's ancestral shrine is in Cherthala, her hometown, and she was brought up in an atmosphere of spirituality and devotion and that could be the reason why she loves to visit temples. But the actress asserts that she also likes to travel to other places.

Dream journey

With adventure tourists taking it a notch higher by going to newer locations in the wild Himalayas, here are spots that are making it to many travel lists.

The actress' long-desired dream is to visit the Himalayas. The riveting stories of those who travelled to the Himalayas are only acting as a catalyst for Gowri to fulfil her long-cherished dream.

"A visit to the Himalayas can only be a dream coming true. So when everything falls into place, I will pack my bags and embark on a journey to the Himalayas. But I am not one who takes much risk while travelling. My mother won't allow me to travel alone as she accompanies me in all my travels. I will have to meticulously plan the Himalayan trip as the chances of my mother becoming a fellow traveller for that journey are pretty high,” Gowri notes.

A special trip that was undertaken by Gowri recently was the visit to a famous temple at Attappady in Palakkad district during the shoot of 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum.' Most people know of the well-known Malleswaram temple in Attappady. One can feel the pulse of the forest en route the revered temple.

Offering prayers at the Sree Vallabha temple at Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta district was also on the bucket list of Gowri. "I came to know that the deity of that temple is close to six feet tall and wanted to see it. Probably this deity is something unique in Kerala," says Gowri. The actress adds that she loves to visit temples that stand out with their distinctiveness.
