'Desinganad:' A video series promoting scenic locales in Kollam

Kollam, known as 'Desinganad' in ancient times, has a history that extends to several centuries in the past. A place blessed with great natural beauty, Kollam flaunts a rich culture and heritage, too. It is a city which hosts several festivals and celebrations round the year. Even with such varied attractions, the tourism potential of Kollam is yet to be fully tapped.

To fill this gap, a new video series titled 'Desinganad' will be launched soon. It captures all the beautiful sights of Kollam to attract more travellers from around the world to the region. Each episode of the series would cover the attractions of a location in Kollam.

On November 1, the Kerala Formation Day, a trailer of the video series has been released. The trailer deals with the highlights of the tourism sector in Kollam. There is an adage in Malayalam that says a person who has visited Kollam would never want to go back to his native place. Supporting this proverb, Kollam is blessed with natural beauty in the urban as well as rural areas. It is already a favourite among discerning travellers.

Attractions in Kollam include lakes, beaches, and islands on the backwaters. In order to make more people aware of these features, a group of youths decided to make the video series. The concept and direction of 'Desinganad' are by Visakh Vijayakumar. K V Vijayakumar is the producer. While Giri Shankar is the production controller, the music is by Dheeraj. Lijo Varghese is the editor, drone video by Sunil Lakshmi and cinematography by Nandu Manoj.

Monalisha Gandayat, Reshma Soni, and Jeena Rajan form the cast of the video.

The full version of the video, to be released soon, is expected to earn Kollam a major place on the tourism map.
