Nehru Trophy | Traffic curbs in Alappuzha, parking banned


Alappuzha: Traffic has been regulated in the city since 9 am for the Nehru Trophy regatta. Parking has been banned since 6 am on all city roads. Vehicles parked in violation of the curbs will be lifted out with recovery vehicles and a penalty will be levied from the owner.

Vehicles are not allowed on the route from the junction north of the district court, east to the Thathampalli lake Kurishadi junction. The ban will be in force until 7 pm.

Only KSRTC buses will be allowed in the area from the Control Room to the Fire Force office. Vehicles arriving for the boat race from the north should be parked at the SDV School grounds. Those coming from Kochi side on the national highway should enter the grounds via Kommadi.

Vehicles coming from Changanassery should be parked at Carmel School grounds. For those from Kaithavana, the parking is at St Antony's School grounds.

Heavy containers are disallowed in the town from 9 am to 8 pm. Those coming from the south should park at Kalarcode bypass and those from the north at Kommady bypass.

The Water Transport department has provided boats for those returning from the pavilion after the regatta. People are requested to avoid rush so that there is no risk of accident.

Seven ambulance vans are ready for emergencies. They are located at Punnamada starting and finishing points, Matha Jetty, Rajeev Jetty, Shavakkotta bridge, and the police control room.
